Infiniti’s European Blueprint: Watch out Lexus
With the new Infiniti EX and the Infiniti M45 – M45x already revealed for Europe, the European customers are wondering what else is in the pipeline for their highways. Infiniti’s only luxury Japanese competitor is Lexus, but CEO Jim Wright, who recently interviewed with AutoCar, wouldn’t go as far as bashing its rival.
Instead, Writght told AutoCar that Infiniti is promising “a significant stand-out offering that no-one else currently has.” Not even the Germans.
While details are yet to be decided, Infiniti will have to offer a very strong warranty to compete with Lexus. A 60,000 mile warranty for the first three years should give it some competing room. They may even have to offer extendend maintenance intervals which Lexus currently offers coverage for 90,000 miles.
The Infiniti Blueprint:
October 2008 – G37 Saloon and Coupe: Hoping to give the BMW 3-Series something to worry about on its home turff.
October 2008 – new FX 4×4: The 2009 Infiniti FX series will get a complete redesign when it debuts at the Geneva Auto Show in 2008.s.
Early 2010 – new 3.0-litre V6 diesel: Europeans love diesel. Infiniti hopes to offer a 250 diesel horsepower engine to meet Euro5 emissions and low C02/fuel standards.
2011 – new M45: Hoping to take on the BMW 5-Series the 2011 M45 will offer V6 and V8 gasoline engines as well as a V6 diesel.
