As reported before, Fiat could be planning a whole Abarth only model lineup. According to AutoCar, the first Abarth only model in the works is a small two-seater roadster that will take on the Mazda Miata MX-5. The small Abarth roadster will launch the Abarth only lineup.
The car is likely to be based on the Abarth SS concept (shown here), and will use the platform of the 500. The Abarth roadster is expected to be powered by a 1.4 liter engine that will produce 150 horsepower.
The Abarth SS Concept had no official connection to Fiat since it was developed by Italy’s IED design institute. Fiat and IED have also worked closely on past designs.
