World’s most expensive convertible: Rolls-Royce Drophead Coupe only for the “ultrarich”

At a starting price of $412,000, including shipping and tax, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe is affordable only to those with assets of $30 million or more, said Paul Ferraiolo, president of Rolls-Royce.

Going on sale in September Rolls-Royce has already sold out almost a 100 units planned for this year. It plans on bringing over 200 units next year. There was hardly any marketing campaign put together for the world’s most expensive convertible for the ‘ultrarich’.

“They are so wealthy that they hate to be marketed to,” Ferraiolo told Automotive News.

Two Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead coupes have already been sold for close to $2 million at auctions.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead coupe is powered by a 6.75 liter V12 engine that produces 453 horsepower giving it the ability to do 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds.
