“We are very excited about some of the upcoming developments for the IS Line, including the V8-powered IS-F and potentially, an IS coupe in the future.” Those are the words of John Roca, Lexus’ Australia division manager, during the milestone sale of 5,000 IS sedans sold.

So now that the Lexus IS coupe is almost confirmed, a hard-top convertible variant could be in the works as well. That will give Lexus strong ground to compete against the BMW’s 3-Series sedan, coupe and convertible lineup as well as Infiniti’s G37.

The coupe and convertible may only get the 3.5 liter V6 engine that produces 306 horsepower, however a more powerful engine could be a possibility. We don’t expect to see the 2.5 liter 204 horsepower engine in either of the two variants.
