The Renault Wind concepts production version, which was originally scheduled for a 2010 release, is set to debut in 2009. According to company insiders, the project is being moved up on the company’s to-do-list.
The Renault Wind concept, which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2004, had an inline-4 engine that produced 136 horsepower with 141 lb-ft of torque. A higher-performance engine may find its way under the hood in the production version since Renault hopes to compete with the Mazda Miata.
It is unclear whether Renault will launch another concept version during this year’s auto show season, or a final production model.
