Report: 7-Seater Land Rover Freelander in the works

According to AutoExpress, Land Rover is planning a seven-seater Freelander 2. The bigger Freelander 2 will join the current 5-seater in about 18 months and will compete with the Peugeot 4007 and the Chevrolet Captiva.

The current Freelander is only 45mm shorter than the Peugeot with a boot space of 1,670 liters, enough to accommodate the extra row. Of course the Freelander will need to be stretched a little to provide extra legroom for passengers.

It is unclear whether Land Rover will offer this as a totally different model variant or offer it as an option. Officials at Land Rover have denied such a model but sources are saying that we are likely to see a pair of additional seating in the boot.
