Hyundai and Kia open $58 Million Green Research Center

 

The Koreans seems to be getting serious about the green race, as the automotive industry shifts towards producing more environmentally-friendly vehicles. Hyundai and Kia have just opened the $58 million dollar environmental technology research center in Seoul.

The center is said to “accelerate the commercialization of fuel-cell electric vehicles.”accelerate the commercialization of fuel-cell electric vehicles.” The center’s has a hydrogen filling station, a fuel-cell endurance tester, an emissions lab, dynamometers and other high-tech equipment for testing electric propulsion systems.

The center will consist of 200 researchers and includes state-of-the-art technology like a “vacuum toilet systems,” which save 1,500 tons of water annually.

According to Hyundai Kia Group, the goal of the center is to make them “the world leader in environmental technology.”
