Spy Shots: Ferrari F430 Challenge Stradale sheds weight

Lamborghini is shedding weight off its cars with the extensive use of carbon fiber in order to increase performance. The first Lamborghini to drop a few pounds was the new Gallardo Superleggera, a light weight version of the Gallardo, increasing output by 10 horsepower. Also set to debut at Frankfurt this September is the Lamborghini Murcielago Superveloce.

Well Ferrari isn’t staying to far behind. Caught by our friends at CarMagazine The new Ferrari F430 Challenge Stradale is almost done completing testing and it will be the Italian stallion’s fastest and hardest car ever. The Ferrari F430 CS was supposed to make its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show, but it seems like its Ferrari is working out a few more kinks to make the car lighter.

Expect to see the same 4.3 liter V8 engine that produces 483 horsepower found in the F430 Challenge. But since the F430 Challenge Stradale will be lighter by shedding 100kg, it will act like a 500 horsepower.

The F430 CS is expected to go on sale in early 2008 for around £150,000 ($206,580).
