Alfa Romeo to produce 8C Spider in 2008

As many know the original framework for the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was to have 250 coupes and 250 spiders (convertibles). But once Marchionne did the math and realized that would cost Fiat 13 million dollars, he killed the spider plans and buried them under the rug.

Last we heard, the Alfa 8C Spider was being discussed on a jet while Alfa Romeo’s CEO, Antonio Baravalle, talked to his boss, Sergio Marchionne, of Fiat. Well now, according to Italian automotive publication, Quattroroute, the 8C Spider will begin production at the end of next year. Like coupe variant, only 500 units will be produced.

Pricing is expected to be €180,000 ($245,250). Hopefully this is true!
