Spy Shots: Mercedes-Benz's R8 Fighter

As reported in May, Mercedes-Benz is working on developing a supercar without the help of McLaren. Expected to be an Audi R8 fighter, the car will be built in partnership with HWA AG, its official DTM race car developer. Spies have now caught the first images of the car.

Based on the next-generation Mercedes SL, the SLC will be powered by a 6.2 liter AMG V8 engine producing 500 horsepower. If necessary Mercedse may even add a twin-turbo variant developing 700 horsepower.

The Mercedes-Benz SLC is expected to make a concept debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show.
