More info on the diesel Audi R8

As we reported in the beginning of June, Audi may be working on a diesel variant of the R8. At that time all we knew for sure was that Audi may use a Q7’s 4.2 liter TDI engine that develops 326 horsepower with 561 lb-ft. of torque. AutoExpress has now digged up some new details.

According to AutoExpress, the 4.2 liter TDI engine will be hooked up to R8’s six-speed manual or automatic R-tronic transmission giving the car the ability to do 0-62 mph in around 5 seconds with a top speed of 160 mph. The four-wheel-drive supercar will have a combined fuel-economy around 30mpg.

The diesel variant of the Audi R8 will arrive after the 5.0 liter model makes its debut carrying a price tag close to £70,000.
