New car in the works from McLaren F1 creator

Gordon Murray, the creator of the F1 supercar at McLaren, left McLaren a couple of years back. But now he has secured funding and is ready to launch his own company on July 4th. Murray Design Limitied, being backed by Caparo group, will be designing and developing a highly efficient, radical car for mass production.

‘My passion lies in small, light, strong advanced vehicles,’ he told CarMagazine back in 2004. ‘The next project is a personal transport thing. The vehicle is so radical that you’d have to let people try it in everyday use.”

Gordon, who also involved with the designing of the Smart Roadster, is known for building compact, light yet strong vehicles. So if you’re expecting another 242 mph supercar like the F1, you will be disappointed. According to CarMagazine, a radical family car is expect, which is a long-held pet project by Gordon.
