Rolls-Royce is looking to team up with Italian coachbuilders Bertone or Zagato to build ultra-luxurious and custom Phantoms for buyers who want to stand out from the rest and can afford to cough up the money. Under the plan, development of the cars will be sent out to the respective design houses since the Goodwood assembly line busy preparing for the next-generation sedan codenamed RR04.
According to CarMagazine, the Phantom and Drophead coupe will be taken off the assembly line in chassis form and will be sent to Bertone or Zagato for the finished model.
Long-term plans for Rolls-Royce call for Goodwood to build six different models variants using two chassis – three per platform. Output is expected to stay below 2,500 to keep the Rolls-Royce badge exclusive.
