Hoping to give a boost to slow sales, Hyundai will be increasing the powertrain warranty on their certified used cars. Hyundai is hoping that its new used car warranty will lure buyers away from its competitors.
The new limited warranty provides powertrain coverage to 10 years or 100,000 miles from when the used Hyundai was sold as new. The previous warranty provided five years or 60,000 miles.
“We wanted something that mirrored the importance of our new-vehicle warranty,” Kimberly Walker, Hyundai’s national manager of assurance products, told Automotive News. “Certified pre-owned is absolutely an element of residual-value improvement.”
Ford and GM also extended their powertrain coverage on their certified used vehicles to 100,000 miles this year.
