BMW wants to work more closely with Mercedes

BMW’s Marketing Chief, Michael Ganal told a German newspaper that it wants to strengthen its relationship with rival Mercedes-Benz. The two currently share hybrid components and technology in order to develop premium hybrids for their lineup within the next three years.
“Cooperation is the right approach because it allows both carmakers entrepreneurial freedom,” BMW sales and marketing chief Michael Ganal told Wirtschaftswoche.
Ganal did not say in which areas the cooperation between the two companies will increase, but said there are several possibilities.
Ganal also confirmed that BMW is not in talks with Volvo.
