MINI SUV gets the green light from BMW

As BMW gets ready for the launch of the MINI Clubman, rumors are starting to circulate that BMW has also given the green light to produce another MINI variant. The MINI SUV, based on the first MINI off-roaders, Austin Ant and MINI Moke, has received the go ahead from top-level executives.

Due to the success of the BMW X5 and X3 in the US, BMW’s Designworks Sutios in California has been mocking up some sketches. If produced, the MINI SUV will be built at BMW’s Spartanburg, South Carolina plant, where the X3 and the X5 are built.

The MINI SUV may even use the underpinnings of the BMW X3.
