Based on the new 2008 Subaru Impreza hatchback that was unveiled at the 2007 NYIAS, CarMagazine artists have drawn up their photo rendering of the next generation Subari Impreza STi. Subaru will only offer the five-door hatchback variant of the Impreza STi in Europe in order to steal some market share from the Volkswagen Golf.

The next generation Impreza STi is expected to carry a 2.5 liter turbocharged engine that produces 300 horsepower giving it the ability to do 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. Subaru says that the car will be lighter, lower and stiffer.

As seen in the image from our friends at CarMagazine, the next generation Impreza STi will have a huge bonnet air scoop and its traditional huge rear wing spoiler. Foglamps, gold wheels and the world-rally blue paint will be offered as options.

The next generation Subaru Impreza STi is expected to make its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show this September with sales in the UK to begin in March 2008. Pricing is expected to be around £27,000.
