Ford raising Edge sales forecast

The Ford Edge is probably the most appealing of all crossover SUVs on the road right now. The SUV is quickly climbing to the top of the charts currently ranking third behind the Nissan Murano and the Toyota Highlander. In February, of the 68,439 mid-size crossovers sold, 10,915 were the Edge, capturing 16% of the market.

Now, Ford is increasing its 2007 sales forecast for the Edge to 120,000; up from 100,000. The Ford Edge set a record in May with sales totaling 12,701, the highest since it was launched late last year.

Ford may be planning to increase production to meet that forecast, as the Lincoln MKX, the luxury version of the Ford Edge, also set a monthly record in May with 3,490 sold. Both vehicles are produced at Ford’s Oakville plant in Ontario.
