There aren’t enough praises to go around for the Audi R8, which is already making headlines. Even Jeremy Clarkson is wishing he had bought the Audi R8 over his Laborghini Gallardo. It seems all Audi has to do is sit back and watch as the R8 becomes a huge success. But the Volkswagen company isn’t done yet.
Sources tell CarandDriver that Audi is working on a diesel variant for the R8. But who really cares about helping out the environment when owning a car like the Audi R8? Well, for one, diesel increases torque on the performance side, and second, it may just be an image thing where Audi can show off a high-performance diesel car.
If CarandDriver sources are to be correct, expect a 4.2 liter TDI Audi R8 in 2009 with 326 horsepower and 561 lb-ft. of torque.
