Kia to go sportier and get rear-wheel from Hyundai

This year at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Korean auto maker Kia will debut a concept that will go head-to-head with the Audi TT. Designed by, Peter Schreyer, the original designer of the TT for Audi, he plans to show Audi exactly what Kia is capable of.

Well now more information has surfaced claiming that the car could get rear-wheel-drive from Kia’s parent company, Hyundai, who is working on their own rear-wheel-drive coupe.

“Rear drive would make it easier to get great proportions to the design,” Schreyer told AutoCar, “but I wouldn’t want to make an expensive car. Any coupe should cost around ÂŁ20,000.”

Spy Shots: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V not to get 600hp

Spy Shots: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V - No 600hp for the beast

Despite wild claims stating that the next Cadillac CTS-V will get a 600 horsepower engine found in the Corvette Z07, sources are telling our friends, CarMagazine, that the next generation CTS-V will get the 7.0 liter smallblock all-alloy V8 found under the Corvette Z06’s bonnet.

Anyway the next-generation Cadillac CTS-V is going under some final high-performance testing before GM unveils it at the Detroit Auto Show in January of 2008. The 2009 Cadillac CTS-V will arrive just in time to compete with the Audi RS6, which is set to make its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show this September. It will also beat the next-generation BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 AMG to the market.

The LS7 engine is capable of producing up to 512 horsepower and is hooked up to a Tremec six-speed manual transmission with GM’s all-wheel drive architecture that’s been tuned for a rear-drive feel. You can expect the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V to do 0-60 in under 5 seconds with a top seed of 185mph.

CarMagazine sources are saying that the next-generation Ford Focus RS will be powered by a 2.5 liter engine found in the current ST with a six-speed gearbox with a Volvo made all-wheel-drive system. Expect the car to develop 300 horsepower with the ability to do 0-62mph in 5 seconds flat with a top speed of 165 mph. You can also expect a turbocharger with larger intercooler and oil cooler and reinforced con-rods.

The next-generation Ford Focus RS will show up in a concept version at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show with the real thing set to arrive late next year.
