Cadillac to drop STS and DTS

Posted: May 14, 2007

In a recent interview with Automotive News, Troy Clarke, President of GM North America, outlined Cadillac’s product plan saying “you’ll see kind of a smaller Cadillac entry — something less than the CTS, something around the CTS and something bigger than the CTS.” He said that means the company will eventually drop the STS and the DTS.

Cadillac will most likely build convertible and coupe variants of future models to fill other product slots.

For now, the new redesigned 2008 Cadillac STS will start selling later this summer.

It’s a mistake to drop DTS. Simply incorporate hybrid technology, diesel, or, improve the Northstar efficiency. Caddy marketing the DTS sucks. Doesn’t give it the justice it deserves. When I go on trips, I drive a DTS or nothing. This is going to really suck! It’d the only reasonable AMERICAN car with enough head/shoulder room for me. It outperforms any of the other so-called “luxury” cars. I hate the overpriced Toyota “Lexus”. What a shame. Mercedes is a bucket of gadgets and bolts. Caddy always keeps the tone … functional with high performance. If anyone gives a shit about driving a real car, as a trained high speed emergency vehicle operator, with over a couple of successful pursuits under my belt….. this DTS will outperform by miles those other pieces of crap they call luxury cars on the road. It’s safe, and stable. Damn! This is going to suck suck suck.

Well, if any Caddillac executive doesn’t think the DTS is worth continuing on the market, they need to have their head examined. Ok, so if you don’t like em, give me a new one, fully loaded. After having survived over 6000 miles of DTS trips with over 8 bad driver evasive measures performed … flawlesly I must add….. with the DTS, I gotta say that the dumb decision to nix the DTS is stupid. Caddy just needs to market it better. Or better yet, do only mailout marketing to the older crowd that stupidly drives Lexus. (What a sham! its just a high priced Toyota, folks!) Gimme a DTS anyday. What great car! If you Caddy folks use your head, that DTS can make any half wit a high speed safe driver in a flash. Please don’t stop making them until I can afford one.
