Maserati Granturismo: Cambiocorsa transmission in two years

The new Maserati Granturismo will get a Cambiocorsa transmission in the late 2008 or early 2009. Top Gear is reporting that the Maserati Granturismo Cambiocorsa will have a rear-mounted gearbox, a sportier weight distribution and will be paired with a higher-powered 4.7 liter engine when it shows up.

What is Cambiocorsa you ask? For those of you that are unfamiliar with the term, Cambiocorsa is a F1-style sequential manual gearboxe used in Ferrari F1 cars. Basically it allows you to shift gears faster and effortlessly like Ferrari’s F1 driver Michael Schumacher.

The Maserati Spyder Cambiocorsa was the first Maserati to ever get the Cambiocorsa transmission.
