Flick off Friday – Kia’s stab at the Audi TT

This Friday we’re going to do something a little different. While we are trying to work out some deals and bugs to bring you more detailed Face off Friday’s (including hands-on test-drives), we thought we’d still follow the ‘F’ off Friday theme. Flick off Friday, is your chance to flick off someone or some company doing something totally outrageous in the auto industry. For example, Kia debuting a concept that will go head-to-head with the Audi TT.

We reported earlier this week that Kia is planning a Audi TT rival for the Frankfurt Motor Show. Designed by, Peter Schreyer, the original designer of the TT for Audi, he plans to show Audi exactly what Kia is capable of. But it’s not even the question of design that concerns us. Kia”s TT fighter will have front-wheel drive and a 2.9 liter turbo-charged engine, which is being built in collaboration with Hyundai.

The main question is will Hyundai and Kia be able to beat German engineering in producing a car that will perform better than the Audi TT? We doubt it.

The Audi TT base model, on the other hand, has a 2.0 liter inline-4 cylinder engine that produces 200 horsepower and if you want to go for more you can get the 3.2 liter quattro that produces 250 horsepower.

So what do you think? Should Kia be given a chance to prove themselves, or should they just be flicked off? Vote below.
