Ford and Toyota to work together with hybrids
In December of last year, Ford’s new CEO, Alan Mullay met with Toyota’s Chairman, Fujio Cho, in order to discuss possibilities for the two companies to work together in moving forward in the hybrid technology market. Now, in a recent interview with Japan’s Kyodo News, Mullay commented on working with Toyota on developing new environmental technologies that would benefit both companies.
“I anticipate that the automobile manufacturers will increase their collaboration and their partnership on developing the technology for even more fuel-efficient vehicles,” he said. “It”s a kind of natural thing for all of us to do, to accelerate the development of the technologies.”
Currently, Ford’s most popular hybrid vehicle is the Escape hybrid. It recently unveiled a new Ford Edge fuel cell plug-in hybrid as well. The company hopes to expand its portfolio with the collaboration with Toyota.
