Report: GM to buy Chrysler from Daimler

General Motors is in serious talks with DaimlerChrysler to buy the Chrysler brand, reports Automotive News. Source from Germany and America are saying that high-level talks are taking place between DaimlerChrysler AG and GM executives. If this deal goes thorugh, GM would own Chrysler, Dodge and the Jeep brands.

Yesterday it was reported that GM and Chrysler in talks to develop a large SUV together that will be competing with GM’s own Chevrolet Suburban. Although the two companies have discussed cooperation on a large SUV, say sources at both companies, the potential deal would go beyond limited product development alliances.
