
While Ford reported a $12.7 billion loss, Mazda, a company which 33.9 percent owned by Ford, today announced a 46% jump in profit for the latest quarter. The fifth largest Japanese automaker reported their sixth straight record profit with 14.9 billion yen ($123.3 million).
In a press release by Mazda, the company said demand was strong in the U.S. for the Mazda CX-7 sport utility vehicle, Mazda5 family car and MX-5 Miata sportscar while the Miata and diesel models for the Mazda5 and Mazda6 did well in Europe.
