Volkswagen Golf faces redesign delay due to burden from Japan

Volkswagen AG Chairman Martin Winterkorn has ordered a reworking of the design of the next Volkswagen Golf reports Automotive News. It seems that a lot of Japanese automakers are doing their best to take over Volkswagen’s top seller in Germany. Toyota is launching the new Toyota Auris in late February and Nissan wants to make its Qashqai have a better resale value than the Golf.
The changes probably will delay the planned 2008 introduction of the hatchback by up to six months. However, this means the new Volkswagen Golf (or Rabbit in the US) will be better in every way.
