Report: Volkswagen Polo coming to United States?

A UK source of ours is telling us that Volkswagen is preparing to bring the Volkswagen Polo to the United States. As of yet no time frame is confirmed but we are estimating the car to show up on our roads around 2010. The Volkswagen Polo is a compact car that will compete with the Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris and the Smart in the US.
So far we can predict that at its initial launch in the United States, Volkswagen will debut the Polo with a regular gasoline engine. Volkswagen later may also unveil a Polo BLUETEC variant, a version of the Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion, which is said to be cleaner than the Toyota Prius. The Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion uses a three cylinder 1.4 direct injection turbodiesel engine that gives it the ability to do 72.4 mpg, which could give it strong ground to compete against the new Toyota and Honda hybrids coming out within the next 3 years.
If brought to the US, the Volkswagen Polo will definitely give Honda and Toyota compact and hybrid cars some strong competition.
