Report: Ford Seriously Considerig plug-in Hybrid

At the Automotive News World Congress this week, Ford’s hybrid vehicle manager Nancy Gioia addressed the audience where she indicated that Ford is seriously considering a production plug-in hybrid vehicle. Ford unveiled a concept of a plug-in hybrid at the Detroit Auto Show called the Ford Airstream Concept. The Ford Airstream Concept shows off the company’s HySeries Drive plug-in Hydrogen fuel cell engine that delivers a combined city/highway fuel economy of 41 mpg. The car can run 25 miles before fuel cells are used with the 336-vold lithium-ion battery pack.

Ford Motor Company was the first American car maker that released a hybrid model in the US with the Ford Escape Hybrid and now hopes to put itself back on the map to compete strongly against GM.
