Honda Accord Coupe Concept Debuts at Detroit

As stated in the beginning of December, Honda has unveiled its new Honda Accord Coupe Concept at the Detroit Auto Show. The Accord’s debut at NAIAS marks the first time that an Accord concept vehicle has ever been shown at a major auto show. Accord is also Honda’s best-selling model in North America and its new Honda Accord Coupe Concept shows a totally new look for the next generation model. The car has a more powerful V6 engine that will provide higher fuel efficiency with Honda’s new Variable Cylinder Management technology.

“The Accord Coupe Concept demonstrates the styling direction for the upcoming, eighth-generation Accord,” said John Mendel, senior vice president of American Honda. “As the industry’s target for midsize segment excellence, the all-new Accord will set a new benchmark for safety, efficiency, performance, refinement and style.”

Very nice lines overall. The rear is beautiful even though it looks inspired by Lexus and Infinity. The similarity my make it look ordinary long before the next body change. Honda styling should set more of a benchmark as it does with the 2007 Civic. Exhaust ports look foolish. Leave such trickery to the boys in Modena. Straight on, the front is a bit too aggressive seemingly for aggression’s sake only. It also looks to have borrowed heavily from Audi, Ridgline, Dodge or Chrysler and is not as harmonious with the rest of the car as it could be. Retain some of your 2007 back slope and integrate it into the great lines of the body. The current Acura Tl does this beautifully. So Does the Lexus IS.
