Report: BMW 5-Series Diesel in US by 2009

The BMW X5 3.0d with its 3.0 liter direct injection diesel engine is on its way to the United States highways by mid-2008. One of our editors was dropping of their 3-Series for service and asked them about the X5 3.0d, which they confirmed. Then the dealer went on to tell him that the BMW 5-Series diesel will also be arriving to the United States by 2009. United States will get the BMW 530d and the BMW 535d, both which have a inline 6-cylinder engines.

GM to unveil Ron Fellows Edition Corvette at Chicago?

The Chicago Auto Show is coming up and GM is planning on showing a line of special edition Corvettes. While they are remaining quit, an Ohio dealer is spilling the beans and says one of the special edition Corvettes will definitely be a Ron Fellows edition Z06. Ron Fellow’s is the driver for the C6.R (pictured above) driver and is the lead high-performance development driver for the Z06, so its only right GM will release a Ron Fellows Edition.

Acura Rethinks the NSX

Acura unveiled the anticipated Advanced Sports Car Concept at the Detroit Auto Show where the company stated that the car is a “dynamically styled concept which provides a preview of the design direction for the successor to the Acura NSX.”  However, the Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept isn’t a direct replacement to the NSX. The beloved Acura NSX that launched in the 1990 was a mid-engine car that made Ferrari shake in its boots because of its better handling and reliability. Honda even lost money on the original NSX.

Report: Volvo Working On Mercedes R-Class Rival?

Volvo is reportedly hard at work on developing a new Mercedes R-Class rival. In order to increase the company’s portfolio and compete with its rivals, Volvo will be introducing a luxury family cruiser for the US. What will it look like? Well Autocar magazine is reporting that the car will be based on the Volvo VCC concept that was unveiled in 2003.

Report: Toyota will only build 1,000 Lexus IS-F for US

We have some bad news for all Lexus fans. Subscribers to the AutoWeek magazine were probably disappointed to read a short blurb on the Lexus IS-F in the January 22, 2007 issue where the magazine reported that Toyota will be building only 1,000 Lexus IS-F sedans for the United States. Look at the bright side, you guys will be the lucky few to have the car and show it off to your fellow BMW M3 drivers.

Official: 2007 Fiat Bravo Launched

Italian automaker Fiat today finally launched the long awaited Fiat Bravo. The 2007 Fiat Bravo is replacing the company’s big flop, the Stilo. The car is a five-door hatchback with various engine sizes. The 1.9 liter Multijet produces 120 and 150 horsepower, the 1.4 liter produces 90 horsepower and the 1.4 liter turbocharged T-JET engine produces 120 and 150 horsepower as well.

Honda working on hybrid concept for Geneva Show

As we reported before on our Honda’s CEO Reveals Production Plan for 2007-2009 article, Honda is working on a dedicated hybrid model that will replace the Honda Insight which has seen the end of production. According to Autocar magazine, Honda will be unveiling a new dedicated hybrid concept at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Honda’s CEO, Takeo Fukui, said the production version will be on the streets in 2009.

Honda tells Washington to beef up vehicle fuel standard

Honda picked the perfect week to attack the US government since it will be running a commercial during the SuperBowl this Sunday which states the Honda is “The Most Fuel-Efficient Auto Company in America.” The Japanese automaker today that the US government needs to do a better job of getting more fuel efficient vehicles on the roads. It said that the US should beef up gasoline mileage requirements and offer incentives to consumers who buy vehicles that burn less fuel. The average fuel economy of a passenger car is 27.5 miles per gallon since 1985.

Nissan today announced a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of $24,400 for the 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid, Nissan’s first entry in the hybrid electric vehicle market. The 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid’s EPA fuel economy is estimated at 42 mpg City and 36 mpg Highway. It is rated as an Advanced Technology-Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle and emits almost no evaporative emissions.

Honda Releases New Global Ad for Honda FCX Concept

Honda has released its latest global ad “FCX” featuring the fully operational fuel cell-powered FCX Concept, portraying Honda’s leadership in environmental performance through advanced technology. The new Honda FCX site has a video version and photo version for viewing pleasure and also has a video of Honda’s new FCX Concept global commercial. The FCX concept will begin selling in 2008 in Japan and the US. The fuel cell car pushes nearly 129 horsepower with 189 pound-feet of torque a range of 356 miles and a top speed of 100 mph.
