Report: Toyota to Introduce a New Hybrid

Since the Toyota Prius is slowly dying down in its popularity, Toyota will now be looking to introduce a new of hybrid-only model in 2009. The new hybrid-only model will be a midsize model that will have Toyota’s third-generation hybrid gas-electric system with a 2.5 or 3.0 liter engine. This will be Toyota’s first hybrid-only model since the 1997 launch of the Prius. Toyota has already set an annual target of 1 million gas-electric hybrid vehicles sold by 2010.

Toyota will also be considering other hybrid-only models including station wagons and minivans.
