GMC Yukon Hybrid Revealed

GMC launched its upcoming 2008 Yukon Hybrid at the LA Auto Show. The 2008 GMC Yukon hybrid has a Vortec V8 engine (developed in partnership with DaimlerChrysler and BMW) gives the big SUV 25 percent better fuel economy than its standard version. The SUV hybrid features a two-mode system combining cylinder deactivation and hybrid technology allowing the Yukon Hybrid to adapt to city driving or highway driving. The 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid will be in dealerships at the end of 2007. Guess GMC couldn’t stand to stay out of the SUV Hybrid race. GM will also be launching the Chevrolet Taho Hybrid in 2007.

“The 2-mode hybrid system has the flexibility to improve fuel efficiency across a range of vehicles,” Stephens said. “For example, in 2003, we introduced the 2-mode hybrid system for transit buses. In 2007, the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon 2-mode full-size SUVs will debut, followed by the Vue Green Line 2-mode in 2008.”
