Smart ForTwo Finally Coming to US in 2008

Smart has finally joined forces with United Auto Group Inc to bring the Smart ForTwo to the United State as early as 2008. The Smart ForTwo has a fuel economy of 40 mpg and is expected to cost less than $15,000. So for all the Smart Cars available in the US have been private imports. Mercedes” Car Group President Ulrich Walker has signed a distributor agreement with United Auto Chairman Roger Penske this past Wednesday.

    Yes, the Smart Car is supposed to come to the USA in 2008, and the price is supposed to be about $15K, but did they remember to mention in bold print the engine will NOT be the same? The catch is with the lower price you will get a smaller Mitsuhishi engine with an expected much much lower mile per gallon (40 miles per gallon).

    *The orignal Smart Car has the Mercedes 3 cyl triptronic engine which averages 50+ miles per gallon! This is the REAL Smart Car.
