Posted: Oct 05, 2006

Richard HammondBBC has announced that it will not be taking Top Gear off the air after it was pressured to do so by many road safety campaigners in the UK as a result of Richard Hammond’s jet car crash. The new season of Top Gear was supposed to air on October 8th but will be delayed to later this month or early November.

The Top Gear crew starts filming today with Jeremy Clarkson taking on the new Lotus. Producer Andy Wilman had threatened to quit if the show was restricted or if the “Hamster” did not return.
