Ghosn, CEO of Nissan, is considered the automotive industry’s exceptional turnaround CEO, and since Ford is in need of a “turnaround,” they are doing their best to get Ghosn on their side. Rumor has it that Bill Ford contacted Ghosn last month to pursue discussions of a partnership if the GM/Nissan/Renault alliance falls through.
Last summer Ghosn rejected the offer to become Ford’s CEO because he felt he would be overshadowed by the family tight control of company. This is apparently the third time Ford has contacted Ghosn in the past 5 years.
