Ford Considers Going Private

FordFord has recently been in trouble and today a source told USA Today that the giant automaker is considering going private to give it some space and time to restructure. A source with “direct knowledge of the discussions” told USA Today that the company’s shares at $7.76, going private would cost Ford as little as $13.34 billion to go private. “The family is willing to look at anything,” said the source. “A lot of different sources are being gamed out.” The Ford family owns about 5% of Ford’s outstanding shares.

    Ford insider is said to mention that the company was willing to look at anything to rapidly accomplish the restructuring along that include the idea of going private that could cost $14 billion. Is this the last resort of the ailing automaker? I hope not
