Smart ForTwo Edition Red Ends Current Edition

Smart ForTwo Edition Red

Daimler Chrysler today announced that the new special edition, Smart ForTwo Edition Red, will phase out the current Smart and make way for the new model in 2008. Production on the current model is slowing down as it sells out. The Smart ForTwo Edition Red has 16 inch allow wheels and 75 horsepower Brabus engine. The exterior is painted intensive red and the interior received little changes such as mp3 interface, premium audio and stitched leather seats.

2007 Bentley Arnage Gets More Power

Bentley today announced that it has updated its flagship model Arnage with more power and chassis enhancement. The new 2007 Bentley Arnage T model now produces 500 horsepower with its 6.74 liter V8, six-speed automatic engine. The Bentley Arnage R and RL model now pushes 400 to 450 horsepower. Design wise there are very light changes to the exterior, interior and under the bonnet.

OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation Standard on Buicks and Cadillac

OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation Standard on Buicks and CadillacGM announced today that the Onstar Turn-by-Turn Navigation will be standard on almost every Buick and Cadillac model for 2007. The option will also be available on other GM cars for an additional $100 optional package upgrade during the first year of service. After the first year of service renewal fee for the package will be $299.




Mercedes Announces New AMG Packages

Mercedes today announced that they will be offering a new performance package for the CLS 63 AMG, SL 55 AMG and the SLK 55 AMG. Promising higher performance, the package makes its main changes on the chassis and the braking system. The performance package also comes with lightweight AMG alloy wheels, AMG steering wheel, illuminated door sills and a carbon fiber exterior package. As of now it is only available in Europe for a price of 8,236, 5,200 and 11,948 euros for the CLS 63 AMG, SLK 55 AM and the SL 55 AMG respectively.

Mercedes Working on a Audi R8 Competitor

While Audi is busy getting ready to unveil the Audi R8 late September, Mercedes may be busy working on its own mid-engine competitor. This beast could be powered by a 6.2 liter V8 engine from the AMG division. A production version of the car isn’t expected until 2010. More BMW Z2 Roadster Info

More BMW Z2 Roadster Info

We were reporting back in May that BMW is working on a Z6 which will possibly succeed the BMW Z8. It was also rumored back then that BMW will be dropping the Z4 model and creating a strong three model Z line including the BMW Z6, BMW Z2 and a BMW Z M Coupe.  Today AutoWeek is reporting that BMW is working on the upcoming BMW Z2 which will sit below the BMW Z4 and will compete with cars like the Mazda MX-5. The BMW Z2 roadster is likely to have a 1.8 and 2.0 liter engine and maybe even a 2.0 turbocharged engine that will push 300 horsepower. We really wouldn’t mind a Z2, Z6 and Z M coupe lineup. Come on BMW, let’s clean it up.

Hamann today released images of the tuned version of the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. Giving it a more sporty look (if that’s possible) Hamann gave it a new front spoiler and side skirts and a new 3-piece rear spoiler. Upgrades to the performance include a upgrade of up to 520 horsepower and 8-piston brake calipers to slow the beast down. Last but not least, Hamann decided to add an extra touch to the “Lambo” doors by making them open in a butterfly-style rather than just straight up. We like it. What about you?

Information on Honda’s Upcoming Hybrid

Information on Honda's Upcoming HybridLast week at Honda’s 2007 lineup event Honday gave some hints about its next hybrid vehicle. Honda will be hoping that the next hybrid will be a high-volume seller since it will have a smaller body and price lower than the current Civic Hybrid. Honda stated that the next hybrid will also have a unique body style, which could mean it won’t be a hybrid version of Honda’s current models such as the Honda Fit. It is expected to hit the market in 2009.

Teen Hits Cop While Text Messaging and Driving

A Michigan State Police officer was injured in an accident due to a teen driver who was sending a text message while driving. The 17 year old teen driver hit the back of a police car, which was assisting another car crash when the car spun around and hit the officer, who was thrown into the air. The teenager suffered minor injuries while the cop is still being treated at Detroit Receiving Hospital.
